CEREC inLab
Brief description  |  Advantages/Benefits  |  Material Choices  |   Material Strength  |  Cementation Options

inLab sets a new standard for all-ceramic CAD/CAM* restorations. It offers the most comprehensive range of restorative applications, including fully-contoured, multiple-unit bridges, inlays, and onlays. They provide for superior strength, consistent accuracy, and beautiful esthetics.

Depending on the placement of the restoration, stump color, and desired outcome, inLab offers several esthetic choices - from a fully milled block, such as ProCAD by Ivoclar Vivadent, to an all-ceramic core, such as inVizion (YZ), with various shades of porcelains built on top.

For more information on inLab, please call us at (916) 929-4464 or (800) 696-4464.

* CAD, an acronym for Computer-Aided Design, refers to computer software that can be used to design almost any product imaginable. CAM, an acronym for Computer-Aided Manufacturing, is the term for computer software designed for programming the motion needed to perform the construction of a virtual design.

CEREC inLab

No need to change your technique. inLab restorations accomodate both shoulder and chamfer preparations - whichever you prefer. Preps, however, need to have smooth inner edges and clearly defined margins.

Advantages/Benefits (back to top)

  • Versatile - material choices to satisfy any indication.
  • Consistent accuracy due to CAD/CAM’s precise milling
  • Metal-free, yet with incredible strength
  • Several colors of cores and numerous shades of porcelain allow for beautiful esthetics

Material Choices (back to top)
Milled all-ceramic core with hand stacked porcelain ...

inVizion (YZ) - YZ stands for yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide, one of the strongest all-ceramic dental materials available with 900+ MPa flexural strength. It is indicated for anterior and posterior crowns and bridges. VITA VM9 porcelain, used to layer over the YZ coping, has enamel-like abrasive behavior which increases wear-comfort for the patient.

Alumina - Combines high strength and translucency for anterior and posterior crowns and 3-unit anterior bridges. The flexural strength of the Vita In-Ceram Alumina material is 525 Mpa.

Full-contour milled block ...

ProCAD or Mark II - These are excellent restorations for inlays/onlays or crowns with insufficient room. They are milled in occlusion with proper contact. There is no build up of porcelain. Full-contour restorations are adjusted by a technician to assure accurate fit and then stained and glazed for optimal esthetics.

Cementation Options (back to top)

Easy Placement - but ONLY use the recommended materials, or your restoration could fail.

Some of the more popular Acceptable Products are …
Multi-link is good for posteriors. It is self-etching, so you do NOT have to isolate. Multi-link can be used for ALL indirect, gold, PFM & all-ceramic crowns, inlays, & onlays, EXCEPT veneers!
Variolink is great for anterior crowns & veneers, but you DO NEED to isolate. It can be used for all-ceramic restorations light or dual cure. (For veneers, their try-in paste is excellent)
Panavia 21 TC (tooth color) – best choice for translucency & esthetics
RelyX Unicem (3M/ESPE) – dual cure, can be used for ALL permanent cementation of ANY type of restoration, EXCEPT veneers.
For other approved products, please refer to the Cementation Options for Vita InCeram Restorations sheet.

Unacceptable Products
Cementation with glass-ionomer-composite cements & compomer adhesive cements. Per the Vita cementation sheet, these hybrid glass ionomers expand & can create a potential for restoration failure over time. These materials include: Fugi-Cem (GC), Fugi Plus (GC), & Advance.
